Face of Boxing

BOX – ‘The Face of Boxing’.

Over the last 8 years, I photographed almost 400 people in the world of Boxing.

Most of  these images where taken at press conferences, weigh-ins and fights, after being in the scene for quite a while I was able to get people to come to the studio.

I wasn’t so much interested in the typical poses, I wanted to show what happens to a face during a fight. Then I got interested in the whole business and wanted to show as many sides of boxing as possible.

The close up is important to me, I don’t fake things, I want a clear sharp honest document of a face. I don’t add anything and I don’t take anything away.

So far I had several shows of this work, in 2004 a solo show at ‘The Butler Institute of American Art’ – Trumbull, in Ohio.  In 2007 a two person show at ‘Dean Project’ in Long Island City and in 2009 a solo show

with Lise Curry Fine Art, at ‘The Prince George Gallery ‘ in Manhattan.
