Face of Boxing

BOX – ‘The Face of Boxing’.

Over the last 8 years, I photographed almost 400 people in the world of Boxing.

Most of  these images where taken at press conferences, weigh-ins and fights, after being in the scene for quite a while I was able to get people to come to the studio.

I wasn’t so much interested in the typical poses, I wanted to show what happens to a face during a fight. Then I got interested in the whole business and wanted to show as many sides of boxing as possible.

The close up is important to me, I don’t fake things, I want a clear sharp honest document of a face. I don’t add anything and I don’t take anything away.

So far I had several shows of this work, in 2004 a solo show at ‘The Butler Institute of American Art’ – Trumbull, in Ohio.  In 2007 a two person show at ‘Dean Project’ in Long Island City and in 2009 a solo show

with Lise Curry Fine Art, at ‘The Prince George Gallery ‘ in Manhattan.

BOX – The Book:

This extraordinary collection of more than 250 black-and-white portraits pays

homage to the greatest living legends of boxing.

From trainers, managers, promoters and cutmen to superstars such as Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Oscar De La Hoya, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes, Jake LaMotta, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins and the Klitschko brothers.

BOX is the most important assemblage of boxing portraits ever published and a stunning visual tribute to one of the world’s most revered sports.
