NABF EXCITED TO BE INVOLVED IN HISTORICAL FIGHT CARDS
The NABF is incredibly excited to have multiple bouts during this busy week of boxing in Las Vegas, culminating in the historic Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao World title unification bout.
On Friday night, in a bout to be televised on tru TV, NABF Welterweight champion Mikael Zewski (26-0, 20), of Quebec, Canada, will put his undefeated record, NABF title and WBC top 10 rating on the line at the Cosmopolitan against undefeated Konstantin Ponomarev (27-0, 13), a former WBC World Youth champion now based in Arizona. This match-up of two undefeated fighters rated in the top 15 by the WBC promises to get the weekend off to an exciting start, and the winner is certain to move closer to title contention.
(At the debonair Chelsea Ballroom in the Cosmpolitan Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, Konstantin Ponomarev defeated Mikael Zewski, by unanimous decision)
The Mayweather vs Pacquiao bout on Saturday night is garnering unseen levels of media coverage and will shatter records as the highest grossing fight of all time. The NABF is thrilled to have not one, but two title fights on the undercard of this historic bout!
Undefeated Cruiserweight slugger Andrew “The Beast” Tabiti (9-0, 9) will put his perfect record on the line and challenge for the vacant JUNIOR NABF Cruiserweight title against rugged Anthony Caputo Smith (15-4, 10) at the MGM Grand Arena. Tabiti, originally from Chicago, but now fighting out of Las Vegas under the tutelage of Floyd Mayweather, Sr., has stopped all 9 of his previous opponents and is one of the bright up and coming stars on the Mayweather Promotions roster.
Also at the MGM Grand Arena, JUNIOR NABF Super Middleweight Champion Jesse Hart (16-0, 13) will put his undefeated record and his Junior NABF title on the line against undefeated Mike Jimenez (17-0, 11) of Chicago. Hart, the son of former middleweight contender Eugene “Cyclone” Hart, has been touted by his promoter, the legendary Bob Arum of Top Rank, as a “future Philly superstar.” This promises to be another exciting bout. Both fighters are coming off of KO wins, with Jimenez stopping his last opponent in the second round and Hart earning stoppage wins in each of his last 3 fights.
(Hart wins by a TKO in the 6th)
The NABF is very proud not only to be represented on these fight cards, but also to have an unprecedented five undefeated fighters in our three title bouts!
