LIL OSCAR CANTU RECEIVES A PLACE IN HISTORY

WBC/NABF 5-time champion, Oscar Cantu, is a Super Star in Kingsville Texas.  On Saturday, August 25th, he was honored at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, with a permanent exhibit in the Connor Museum.  It displays wonderful pieces of memorabilia and photos of his amateur and professional careers in boxing.  Cantu, ever the humble, friendly and generous man, gave credit to his family and community for always supporting him and guiding him throughout the journey.  He said, “I couldn’t have done this on my own.  I needed you all.” He is known throughout the area for his volunteer work – everything from mentoring the youth in his dad’s boxing gym to clean up projects around town. Almost 300 loyal fans were in attendance at the ceremony.  Also speaking at the event were Kleberg County Judge Rudy Madrid, Oscar’s sister, Erica Marcial, and former WBC world Super Bantamweight champion Paul Banke.  Cantu looks forward to conducting tours at the museum and explaining to children and adults what it took to earn his success in boxing.  The museum is open to the public.  Congratulations, Champ!
